Nicky braves the Great North Run to raise money for Crohn's & Colitis UK!

Just when we thought our esteemed leader, Mrs C, couldn’t be any more inspirational… off she goes and books herself on to the Great North Run!!!

Nicky will be raising money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, the UK’s leading charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.  Nicky’s choice of charity was a no-brainer, as she herself has battled with Crohn’s Disease for many years.

Crohn’s Disease is a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system or gut. Crohn’s can affect any part of the gut, though the most common area affected  is the end of the ileum (the last part of the small intestine), or the colon.  It is an incredibly painful and often debilitating condition and whilst there have been some major advances in the treatment of Crohn’s over the past few years, currently the condition is incurable.  Having undergone major surgery to remove the disease, thankfully Nicky is no longer a sufferer of this horrendous condition.

Nicky is absolutely delighted to be able to run for a charity so close to her heart.  Those of you who know Nicky personally will know that she’s useless at blowing her own trumpet, so on her behalf, the Mad About Book-keeping Team would like to say how very proud we all are of her and would like to ask you to please join us in sponsoring her for this very worthy cause.

The world’s biggest half marathon takes place on Sunday 10 September and will take participants on a 13.1 mile journey from the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne to the coast in South Shields!

THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK Nicky!
